Martin Garwood

Specialist Coaching & Consulting for Headteachers and Leadership Teams.

Martin has over 25 years experience of working in education at all levels, from primary teacher to headteacher to LEA adviser. From 2000 to January 2005 he was Project Director of the North Gillingham Education Action Zone, working with schools and private sector organisations to help improve social inclusion and educational standards.

He is a gifted trainer, with a strong commitment to developing teaching, learning and school leadership, and the author of several books on education: his latest, the Effective Subject Leadership Manual, was published by Pearson books in December 2005.

Martin now works independently, providing consultancy and coaching services to schools, LEAs and other organisations including the Southend Excellence Cluster and the British Council. He is a Consultant Leader for the DfES's Primary Leadership Programme, working with Medway schools on self-evaluation and leadership improvement strategies. As a qualified and experienced coach, he specialises in working with headteachers and leadership teams, helping them to maximise their potential. He is also an accredited Firework career coach, with expertise in redundancy and retirement planning.
